Tragic collapse leaves one dead and four injured in NYC garage.

A multi-story parking garage in New York City's Financial District collapsed on Tuesday, leaving one worker dead and four hospitalized. The building pancaked all the way to the cellar floor, according to Acting Buildings Commissioner Kazimir Vilenchik. Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the structure had been rendered "completely unstable." One worker was trapped on an upper floor but rescued via a neighboring roof. Officials believe there were six workers inside at the time of collapse; they think everyone is accounted for now after department personnel searched with drones and a robotic dog.

The incident occurred near Ann Street and Nassau Street when concrete floors fell onto each other like pancakes, crushing cars below them as well. According to NBC News, it happened after the second story of this five-story parking lot gave out into its first level around 4 PM local time yesterday afternoon - police commissioner Keechant Sewell said he has no reason yet not suspecting anything other than structural failure caused by wear-and-tear over years due mainly because maintenance wasn't up-to-date enough.

Emergency responders rushed several people from different levels who suffered injuries during their escape or rescue efforts while saving others' lives: some needed medical attention right away while others waited until later treatments could be administered once safely outside where ambulances awaited transportation services provided through various hospitals throughout Manhattan such as Bellevue Hospital Center located nearby within walking distance if necessary.

Mayor Eric Adams expressed his condolences towards those affected by today’s tragedy before addressing how important safety measures are regarding infrastructure projects across New York City since these types accidents can happen anywhere without warning signs visible beforehand indicating potential danger zones ahead should always remain vigilant even though we don’t know what causes collapses like this one so far apart from general neglect long-term lack adequate upkeep which led directly collapsing structures themselves along with vehicles parked inside them too often overlooked entirely despite being essential parts our daily routines getting us places need go work play shop dine relax unwind rest recharge batteries ready another day ahead.
